I’m incredibly pleased that a paper I’ve written about my final year project is being published in the proceedings for the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO). Unfortunately it’s my supervisor that gets to go all the way to Atlanta to present it rather than me (all right for some!), but it’s a great achievement to have work published as an undergraduate and I look forward to seeing by name on Google Scholar!
The work’s main aim is to create an objective way of measuring the quality of a cube drawing - this may sound trivial but cube drawings are frequently used as a aid to the diagnosis and measurement of various problems such as dementia (in particular Alzheimer’s disease) and stokes. Basically it can be used in any problem where visuo spatial neglect is found and has been found to be a very good early indication of a problem.
I’m not sure how the copyright works on it yet, so I won’t post the paper to this website until I know that I can!

I’ve had a keen interest in photography since my travels during my gap year. I’m very lucky to have been to some beautiful places, so it’s been pretty easy to produce some good pictures without much in the way of talent! But it’s something that I really want to develop and having recently acquired a bargain Canon EOS 350 from ebay hopefully I’ll be uploading some interesting photos to flickr rather than just jealously looking at everyone else’s! It’s certainly a brilliant camera!
